Churros con Chocolate at Dulcinea – Is it in or out?

Is it me or do I really have a peculiar taste when it comes to food?

I am actually referring to one particular food offered in one luxurious restaurant – the popular Churros con Chocolate from Dulcinea. People I know or even acquaintances and friends of Junnjun would be talking about the delicious taste of Churros con Chocolate.

Well, it is kind of unique due to its presentation plus the native chocolate dip. But before I get to my point of why I possess a peculiar taste, here are a few details on what a Churros is.

Churros con Chocolate at Dulcinea

Churros is actually a twisted thin bread, formed into a loop -  a popular Spanish pastry. It is cooked fried due to its crisp and oily taste. Every bite will give you a thin layer of fried bread and since you actually dip it in moist thick chocolate, the overall flavor is bittersweet. (The Churros alone reminded me of French fries without the ketchup.)

The chocolate dip is called a Spanish chocolate. A small cup comes with an order of Churros con Chocolate but you can buy them separately for only 55 Pesos.

You can have the 5 Churros plus the chocolate dip for only 75 Pesos. It is quite affordable since one order of Churros and dip can be shared between two people. (I even saw four high school barkadas sharing one order of Churros con Chocolate)

To get to my point, I may be having another thought on the Churros con Chocolate. In spite the raves of its delicious taste of  I actually find it not that extraordinary yet, I never find it bad either. Just a simple snack for that matter. It is a bit oily in taste for me and the chocolate comes strong for the thin bread.

Anyways, you can still have your own judgment on Churros con Chocolate and post them on the comments below :) . Have them at Dulcinea with branches at SM City Iloilo and other locations nationwide.

Spanish or Italian hot chocolate drinks are made thick and rich and churros are meant to be dunked into the hot chocolate. It is also eaten separately with a light dusting of sugar and the chocolate drank as a beverage. Churros can also be dipped in dulce con leche (I prefer to do this) and paired off with hot coffee.
